April 6, 2004 Dear Scott and Todd: Congratulations on your planned Hudson Bay Expedition! I applaud what you are planning to undertake, and particularly your goal of providing the educational opportunities about canoeing, wilderness, Minnesota, Canada and caring for the environment. By sharing your story and letting others "ride along in your canoe" you can have a real impact on people for a long time to come. We need only look at the continuing impact the trip taken nearly 75 years ago by Eric Sevareid and Walter Port to know that this is true. Best of luck in your explorations of the world that awaits "right outside you back door." When you begin to make you way north in May Liv and I hope to be making our way south from the North Pole. May our paths cross! Sincerely, Ann Bancroft In the Spring of 2005 Ann Bancroft and her expedition partner Liv Arneson will be attempt to become the first women to make a crossing of the Arctic Ocean (via the North Pole). Ann is a native Minnesotan and is quite famous-she is the first woman to cross the ice to the South Pole and to the North Pole. You can read more about her and her expeditions at www.yourexpedition.com.
